Let’s talk about why I have a cancellation policies and take deposits in the first place! Unlike a salaried 9-to-5 job, PMU artists earn a living through booked appointments. Imagine showing up to work after arranging childcare, commuting, and getting ready—only for your boss to say, “Never mind, go home… and you’re not getting paid.” That’s exactly what a no-show feels like.

I see a limited number of clients in a day so I can balance my business with being a mom, a wife, and running a household. When someone cancels last minute or doesn’t show up, I’m then unable to fill that spot, meaning I lose out on work and income. This is why I require 48 hours’ notice for cancellations—or the deposit is forfeited.

Thankfully, this doesn’t happen often, but if it becomes a trend, I may have to raise deposit amounts (which I really don’t want to do). Let’s keep it fair for everyone—your appointment time is valuable, and so is mine!
